The project is to build a website for selling equipment. The idea is to be able to upload technical details, features & images of a large number of items (100's maybe 1000's). These would be searchable by all fields i.e. search by width of item or search by power requirements etc. I would like this to filter results using AJAX. Initially I would upload the item details but in the future I may want the manufacturer/wholesaler to be able to access there own admin area to upload their own equipment details. This would obviously require User ID/Password etc. Initially they can list for free but depending on the popularity of the site they may be charged a fee to list each item. When a customer is searching for an item the site will return a list of results and they can choose an item which will produce a full page fact sheet with images etc. They will be prompted to enter their postcode to generate a list of local suppliers with the price offered, the distance away from their postcode and a google map. The customer enters the date that they want the item and an sms message and email is then sent to the local supplier including the items details and customers phone number so that they can contact them. (I am proposing using e-txt for the sms). The supplier pays an annual subscription to list on the site. The supplier would be able to log-in to their own admin area to update their own profile and change the discount they offer on items. In effect they would have their own website within the main website and using the same database. I would like to be able to offer them their own paypal integration if they wished to pay extra so that they could accept online payments. I would like to be able to have a feedback rating for the equipment. I would like feedback ratings for the suppliers also but without taking payments through the site I'm not sure how this could be achieved. Obviously we need all of the standard stuff About Us, Contact Us, Terms Conditions, Privacy Policy etc. |
