We need help to perform shipping based on weight. Currently, we use USPS only with Magento. However, if someone places an order that weighs more than the maximum USPS weight allowed (I think 150lbs - which is common since we ship heavy steel targets), it comes up with a custom error message during checkout that says "Sorry, no online quotes are available for this order at this time. All orders over 150 lbs must be shipped by freight and cannot be completed online. Please call Customer Support to place your order." We also have the option for free shipping that shows up as "Free Shipping/Own Shipping Method," but this is only available for certain customer groups, and people who have put in a coupon code. We want to update this so we don't have to process as many orders over the phone. Is it possible to update things so: 1) If the total weight is under 100 lbs, that orders are processed as normal 2) If the total weight is above 100 lbs, their order is processed, but they are not charged for shipping nor able to pay for USPS shipping. Instead, they are shown a message that says "Your total weight exceeds the limit for standard USPS shipping. Your order will be processed, but you will soon be reached by a representative to process the cost for shipping by freight." I have thought this through and think it's possible, from what I know of Magento, but don't know how to implement. Please provide a quote. Thanks. |
